THE NAME IS ARMENIAN. IT SIGNIFIES THE SUN AND LIGHT –
I create moments. Sometimes, I steal them.
I’m a director, photographer, editor and producer who also writes. A jack of all trades? No. I’m a master of one: STORY.
I accept editorial and commercial assignments worldwide.
Work has taken me to 25 countries and throughout the United States. I’ve swum with Sir Richard Branson and humpback whales off the Dominican Republic, braved Merkava tank fire in Gaza and chronicled the aspirations and ingenuity of people from Havana to Hanoi. Over the past decade, I’ve worked as a contract video director, producer and shooter for Bloomberg TV, Bloomberg LP, PBS, the Associated Press, Edelman PR, NBC, the New York Metropolitan Opera, EPIX and ReFramed Pictures.
I made my bones as a wartime network news producer and conflict photographer in the Middle East. I produced from the front lines of America’s war in Afghanistan for NBC Nightly News and spent three years covering the Palestinian Intifada as NBC’s Tel Aviv bureau producer. I have reported “on-air” for ABC-TV, NBC-TV and NPR affiliate stations and produced for the newsmagazine show Dateline NBC. I started directing documentary shorts for PBS in 2008 when I was a principal video journalist and producer for the international news show WorldFocus.
My work as a producer/director/editor was nominated for three national Emmys in 2010 for stories I made on the legacy of Agent Orange in Vietnam and dirt cookie consumption in Haiti. For my coverage of the Palestinian Intifada, I was named a national Emmy finalist with my NBC colleagues and won an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University silver baton. I was awarded an Emmy citation for my work in New York during the 9/11 tragedy. I have received accolades from the NY Press Club, Society of Professional Journalists, the National Headliner Club, Investigative and Reporters and Editiors and Getty Images.
My productions have appeared on UpWorthy (4.6+ million views), APTN, Bloomberg TV, the BBC, NBC, PBS and the Huffington Post; my photography in the NY Times, Le Figaro, LA Times, Paris Match, Der Spiegel, Stern, Suddeutche Zeitung, and Corriere della Serra.
